Generally I enjoy both of these genres so it actually surprised me that I didn’t like Happy Salmon. The game takes elements from party games as well due to you having to perform silly actions to get rid or your cards.
You need to be quick on your feet to find matches to get rid of your cards as quickly as possible. In many ways the game feels like a combination of a speed game and a party game.
You do this by matching other players and performing the corresponding action.
Basically the objective of the game is to get rid of all of the cards from your pile before the other players. The premise behind Happy Salmon is simple. Unfortunately Happy Salmon was not the game for me. Switcheroo: The matching players will pick up their cards (taking them with them) and switch positions with the other matching player. Pound It: Matching players will give each other a fist bump (touch their fists together). High 5: This card will have the matching players slap their hands together in a “high five”. The actions that you will perform in the game are as follows: The other player(s) will have to wait for another player to match.Īt any time if a player can’t find a match they can take their top card and put it at the bottom of their deck in order to get a new card to try and match. If three or more players match at the same time, only the first two to match and complete the action will get to discard their card. After performing a high 5 both players will be able to discard the top card from their decks. Play until one player has all the cards or set a time limit on the game and stop when time is up. After a player wins cards, they must shuffle them into their deck before the game can continue. Each round consists of all the players turning over the first card in their pack in an outward motion, giving every player a fair chance of seeing the card as it's turned over.
